Starting a Digital Marketing Internship: Meet Jess, Our New Digital Research Intern at GlowMetrics

Hello! I’m Jess, and I’ve just started my digital marketing internship at GlowMetrics as the new Digital Research Intern. This opportunity marks the next step in my marketing career journey, following my studies at Queen’s University Belfast and Cambridge University.

A Little About Me

I originally studied English at Queen’s University Belfast, where I discovered my love for storytelling and connecting with people. That passion led me to the University of Cambridge, where I pursued a PGCE, hoping to find those same values of connection, creativity, and purpose, in the classroom.

Ironically, I found them not in teaching, but in marketing. After a rewarding year working as a Communications Officer for a charity, I decided to move back home (because honestly, there’s no better place to be! ☘️) to begin a Master’s in Marketing at QUB, which I’m set to complete in September.

Since 2023, I’ve held a variety of marketing roles, from my charity work to supporting QUB’s marketing team as a Market Insight Assistant alongside my MSc. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with some incredible people so far, and I’m excited to keep that going here at GlowMetrics!

Outside of Work

When I’m not working or studying, you’ll probably find me outside, either running (did someone say GlowMetrics run club?), walking my dogs on Rossnowlaugh Beach, swimming in the sea, reading endlessly, exploring new places with my partner, Sam, and capturing it all on camera.

I’m also a coffee lover, like most of the GlowMetrics team! I get too much joy from the simple act of finding new coffee spots, and have mapped the country based on where all the aesthetic cafes are located. 

Fun Fact

My happy place is the kitchen. I love baking and cooking for friends and family, and one of my biggest dreams is to one day have a garden where I can grow my own fruit and veg, bake fresh bread, and host cozy dinner parties (with Sam on dish duty, of course).

Quick Favourites

• Movie: La La Land – the soundtrack is an instant mood-lifter.

• TV Shows: Gilmore Girls (strictly autumn viewing) and Friends (year-round comfort).

• Artist: Currently obsessed with Amble – but this changes daily!

• Food: Blueberries. I discovered during A-level revision that they boost brain power, and I’ve been hooked since.

• Drink: Morning cappuccino with almond milk but only when I perfect the latte art.

• Colours: In summer, I am butter yellow and ocean blue obsessed. Come autumn, it’s all about the deep reds and burnt oranges.

What’s Next

I’m looking forward to growing both professionally and personally through this digital marketing internship. Being surrounded by such a passionate and driven team at GlowMetrics makes this opportunity even more meaningful.
