Meet Sophie our latest work experience student. This week at GlowMetrics she gained an insight into the working world and potentially a future career path.
So, Sophie, tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m 17 years old and live in Bangor in Co. Down. I am a lower sixth in Sullivan Upper School in Holywood. I study Business, Computer Science, French and Geography.
What are your hobbies when you’re not studying?
I have been doing rock climbing at Queen’s PEC in Belfast for eight years and currently go every Sunday. I really enjoy rock climbing as it’s a fun and unique way of getting some exercise in. I also love walking my dog, Bryn, with my family. I enjoy travelling, whether it’s car journey to somewhere like the North Coast or somewhere abroad. Honestly, though I do spend most of my free time either with my friends or asleep.
What’s your favourite TV show?
I don’t watch TV that often but I do really like Friends and the show Grace & Frankie on Netflix because it’s a different plotline to a lot of TVs shows out there at the minute.
I wanted to come to GlowMetrics for my work experience because two of my subjects, Business and Computer Science, are linked with data analytics and digital marketing. I find this aspect of business and computing interesting, and possibly a future career path. Another reason is my dad works in the same building and had said all the staff are very friendly and kind, so I knew I would feel welcomed. I bagged a free lift every morning to work with my dad too 😉
I wanted to see what a job like this actually entails and what it is like on a day to day basis.I have loved my time here, and it has given me an insight into the working world. I want to say a huge thanks to Joanne at GlowMetrics for the opportunity. From this week I’ve discovered this is an area, I may want to continue into in the future as I have found it enjoyable.
