Last week we came across an article on Search Engine Journal which was looking at the 25 most expensive AdWords keywords which got us thinking; what are the most expensive keywords in the Irish market?
For many years keywords in mortgage, banking, insurance and gambling sectors have been well known to be some of the most expensive and feature on the list that we’ve put together. But what about ‘psychic connect’, ‘google adwords expert’, ‘office space London’ or ‘streaming music sites free’? Bet you weren’t expecting these terms to have a suggested bid of over €10 and in some cases over €25!
Our research is based on Google’s keyword tool, and we’ve pre-selected the Irish market. Our data showed that financial-based keyword groups are by far the most expensive, especially those in the gambling sector.
Top 3 highest suggested bid keywords were:
- ‘Best online slots casinos’ – suggested bid of €177.96
- ‘Rulete online’ – suggested bid of €141.94
- ‘Online casino games’ – suggested bid of €110.13
In most cases, keywords that have a high suggested bid are thought to be likely to generate long-term returns.
We should also mention at this point that Google says the suggested bid is ‘only an estimate, and your actual CPC may vary,’ which, from our own experience, we would agree with. We always use the suggest bid to get an idea of how cheap or expensive a market is overall, and rarely base the maximum CPC’s that we set for new keywords on these figures, as ACTUAL CPC’s (when the campaigns are live) can vary widely from what their original suggest bid was.
Click the infographic below to view some of the most expensive keyword groups and keywords. Do you know of any other expensive keyword groups? If so, please comment below, and if you find a keyword with a higher suggested bid than the highest we found at €177.96, we will give you 1 hour free consultancy on SEO, SEM, Analytics or Tag Management!
